BiographyJames H Bennett was born as John B. Quirk on the 5th of April, 1851 in Haverstraw, New York, and after entering the navy he was sent as a Chief Boatswain's Mate to fight in the Spanish–American War aboard the {{USS|Marblehead|C-11|6}}.[1] Bennett died on the 22nd of November, 1900 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and is buried in the Cold Spring Cemetery in Cold Spring, New York, and his grave stone bears his original name, John B Quirk, and James H Bennett. Medal of Honor citationRank and organization: Chief Boatswain's Mate, U.S. Navy. Born: 11 August 1877, New York, N.Y. Accredited to: New York. G.O. No.: 521, 7 July 1899. Citation:On board the U.S.S. Marblehead during the cutting of the cable leading from Cienfuegos, Cuba, 11 May 1898.
