A Democrat when he served in the House, Fair resides off Louisiana Highway 9 between Castor and Saline. He served in the state House for a single term from 1980 to 1984 during the administration of Governor David C. Treen.[1] Fair was elected in 1979 to fill the seat vacated by Speaker E.L. "Bubba" Henry of Jonesboro, who ran unsuccessfully that year for governor of Louisiana. Fair was unseated after a single term in the 1983 election by Jimmy L. Long, not to be confused with Jimmy D. Long, a businessman from Natchitoches, who served in the legislature from 1968-2000. Fair maintains a Saline address; his former wife, Linda Bacon Fair, resides in Castor.
