He is considered as a versatile literary figure among the Gurjar tribe. As of 2018, he has authored, edited and compiled more than three hundred books in the Gujari/Gojri language about Gurjar history, culture, languages, and literature .[1][2] His YouTube show [https://www.youtube.com/user/javaidrahi1 Mahari Awaz] in Gujari is aimed at Jammu and Kashmiri audiences. AwardsFor his notable work in the field of preservation and propagation of the Gurjar Culture, Dr. Rahi has been decorated with awards including the Best Book Award in 2000 and the Best Play-script Award in 1998 in the Gujari language. Both of the Awards have been instituted by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, a government body. He has been awarded by the Union Ministry of Tourism and Culture in New Delhi with National Fellowship in 2000 for his outstanding contributions in the field of tribal and nomadic research.[3] CareerIn 2004, Dr. Rahi was appointed as head of the Gujari wing of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages where he has compiled the first ever Gujari dictionary containing around 70,000 words. This was the fourth dictionary project which has been compiled under his supervision. In addition to above project, he has complied first ever encyclopedia in Gujari language.[4][5] In September 2009, he was appointed as the first chief editor of Gujari in the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.[6] Dr. Rahi was also appointed as a national secretary of the Tribal Research and Cultural Foundation. As this title, Dr. Rahi has done remarkable work to better the welfare of tribal communities in India.[7] He has also worked as a convenor of the Gojri language in the Jammu and Kashmir State Board of School Education (BOSE).[8] Literary backgroundAs a noted researcher, historian and writer of the Gujari and Urdu languages, Dr. Rahi has authored a number books in Gujari, Urdu, English, and other local languages, all of which were published by the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.[9] Literary work in Gujari
