Jewelpet is a fictional world surrounding a Sanrio/Sega Toys franchise. It is composed of three worlds: Jewel Land, Sweetsland and the Human World (or Rare Rare). Each coexists with each other in each series and focuses extensively on the Jewelpets and Sweetspets. Magic and alchemy are the main theme and is commonly used through the franchise's run. Terms involving magicians and mythical creatures are used in the series canon.

Locations

Jewel Land

{{nihongo|Jewel Land|ジュエルランド|Jueru Rando}} is the homeworld of the Jewelpets and the great magicians. Jewel Land itself is a continent that is part of the Jewel Planet located somewhere beyond the solar system, as evidenced by Kira Deco and Twinkle. It is a magical place where all Jewelpets study magic and are friends with their humans and magicians. It is entirely made of jewels and stardust,[1] filled with colored trees, magical gemstone bushes and crystals. The geography is full of fields, mountains and towns. Magic and Alchemy is the main education in Jewel Land.

Depending on the series, Jewel Land has a few notable spots and places in the whole world. The notable place is the Magic Academy, where all Jewelpets (and humans in training) attend classes to study magic and alchemy; the Strawberry Cafe, a famous spot where Jewelpets get together for special occasions; and the Jewel Tower, on which the Four Great Witches of Jewel Land and Jewelina live.

Another interesting location in Jewel Land before Twinkle is its Orbital Rings, which are composed of jewels. In the Orbital Ring lies the forbidden weapon called the Battest, which was sealed in the Orbital Rings due to the powerful Dark Magic it contains and how it almost destroyed Jewel Land. Sunshine has an interesting spot called the Sunshine Academy where Jewelpets and humans study as well as the dormitory for them to stay with. Another place in Jewel Land before Kira Deco, called Jewel Town is where all Jewelpets live peacefully. Happiness introduced another area exclusive to the anime called the Jewel Academy as well, where humans attend school and the Jewelpet Cafe, where Ruby and her friends work to get Magic Gems.

Sweetsland

{{nihongo|Sweetsland|スウィーツランド|Suwītsurando}} is an island nation far from the seas of Jewel Land, somewhere in the Jewel Planet. It is themed with sweets and pastries: Everything is made of confectionery and pastries. The government is a monarchy, ruled by a king and queen. Sweetsland is also the home to the Sweetspets, animal creatures named after sweets.

Human World

The {{nihongo|Human World|人間界|Ningenkai}} is where all Human Beings or {{nihongo|Rare Rare|レアレア|Rea rea}} live. The Human World is Earth and is unaware of the existence of Jewel Land and Sweetsland. In each series, however, a few humans who have Jewelpets know of the existence of both worlds and the Jewelpets and the Sweetspets.

In the Twinkle anime, the human world is referred by the Jewel-Landians as the Rare Rare World. The term Rare Rare is Jewel-Landian for anything human-related, and everyone in Jewel Land referrer to the humans in this word and terms, especially the high-class magicians of the Magic Academy. The name Rare Rare Drops comes from this term.

Each Jewelpet has their own version of Jewel Flash and has their own attributes and strengths, depending on which Jewel they represents. The Jewelpets use this magic to use special spells or synchronize with their human partners, as seen in Twinkle. From Sunshine onwards, the Jewelpets must use their Jewel Pods to use this magic.

A variation of the Jewel Flash, called {{nihongo|Sweets Flash|スウィーツフラッシュ|Suwītsu furasshu}} exists. This is mainly used by the Sweetspets for casting magic but the execution is different. As seen in Kira Deco, for example, Sakuran must use her Jewel Necklace to cast it.

Dark Magic

{{Nihongo|Dark Magic|ダーク魔法|Dāku mahō}} is what Diana, Dian and Coal practice. For Diana, it lowers the person's fortune and determination for the Jewelpet in its Jewel Form to come out, while Dian's used to manipulate other Jewelpets to do his bidding. This is a forbidden type of magic that no Jewelpet practices in Jewel Land, as it causes nothing but disaster and despair to whoever uses it. However, for Coal, he uses dark magic to summon dark clouds that can be used to manipulate people or for offensive purposes.

In Sunshine, the Dark Magic is a living entity. Its goal is to plunge Jewel Land into darkness and eternal winter. This is shown in its several attempts to freeze the world and possess someone who is pure, as shown in Episode 47 where Sapphie is possessed by the Dark Magic and later by Jewelina.
