Clark is a professor[1] and former Fulbright scholar[2] who specializes in Central African Socio-Political and Economic Dynamics.{{Clarify|date=May 2011}}{{Citation needed|date=May 2011}} He has conducted research in Congo-Brazzaville, the Democratic Republic of Congo and other Central African states, and has been recognized as one of the world's leading researchers and experts on Central Africa.{{Citation needed|date=May 2011}} Clark's signature scholastic style is indicative of the time he spent in Central and Sub-Saharan Africa.{{Clarify|date=May 2011}}{{Dubious|date=May 2011}}{{Citation needed|date=May 2011}} He was chair of the Department of International Relations at Florida International University from 2002–2007,[3] and has lectured in Kampala, Uganda at Makerere University.[2][3]Clark graduated from Georgia Southern University (A.B., Political Science, Magna Cum Laude) and the University of Virginia (Ph.D., Foreign Affairs).
