词条 | John Hall (Buckingham MP) |
释义 |
General John Hall (1799[1] – 5 May 1872[2]) was a British Conservative Party[3] politician. He was elected unopposed as one of the two Members of Parliament (MPs) for Buckingham at a by-election January 1846,[3] and was returned at the next three elections until he stood down from the House of Commons at the 1859 general election.[3] He belonged to the Hall family of Weston Colville, Cambridgeshire, his father being John Hall (1767–1860).[4] In the 1860s, the family moved within the county to Six Mile Bottom, to an estate that passed to General John Hall's nephew on his death without issue.[5] Hall entered the British Army in 1817, becoming a lieutenant-colonel in the 1st Life Guards in 1837, and major-general in 1855.[1] References1. ^1 {{cite journal|title=Wills and Bequests|work=The London Review|issue=15|page=351|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=2n1NAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA351 |accessdate=2010-08-07|date=13 October 1860}} 2. ^{{Rayment-hc|b|6|date=March 2012}} 3. ^1 2 {{cite book |last=Craig |first=F.
