The John Humphrey Plummer Professorship of Theoretical Chemistry was established in 1932 from a bequest of £200,000 under the will of John Humphrey Plummer, an estate agent of Southport, to the University of Cambridge for the advancement of science.[1] The title of the professorship was originally inorganic chemistry, but was changed in 1932 to theoretical chemistry.[2] The professorship was discontinued in 1968, but revived later for machine learning in medicine.[2] John Humphrey Plummer Professors of Theoretical Chemistry
