释义 |
Strevens was born in London and a self-taught painter.[2] He was known during the 1960s for his paintings of children and flowers, which were made into prints.[3] Twenty years after his death two of his paintings were donated by his daughter to his local hospital, St Margaret's in Epping, Essex;[2] Strevens had been treated there for Parkinson's disease in later life. The remainder of his paintings were auctioned.[3] A blue plaque to Strevens has been placed on his house, in Lower Park Road, Loughton. Two of Strevens' paintings are in the collection of the British Council.[4] References1. ^{{cite web|title=Brief biography|url=http://www.johnstrevens.com/biography.html|work=John Strevens|accessdate=11 December 2010}} 2. ^1 {{cite news|title=Work of painter Strevens given to Essex hospital|url=https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-essex-11816733|work=BBC News Online|date=22 November 2010}} 3. ^1 {{cite news|author=Clare Hardy |title=LOUGHTON: Popular artist's paintings to go under the hammer |url=http://www.guardian-series.co.uk/news/8684595.LOUGHTON__Popular_artist_s_paintings_to_go_under_the_hammer/ |work=East London and West Essex Guardian |date=24 November 2010 |accessdate=2014-02-25}} 4. ^John Strevens (1902 − 1990) {{webarchive|url=https://web.archive.org/web/20140305053141/http://collection.britishcouncil.org/collection/artist/5/19078 |date=2014-03-05 }}, British Council Collection (Collection.britishcouncil.org).
