Denman was born in Latrobe, Tasmania, and was educated at the University of Tasmania, where she graduated in education. She was a school teacher 1968–89. Private Secretary to the Premier of Tasmania, the Hon Michael Field, 1989–92. Denman was Deputy Government Whip in the Senate 1995–96 and Deputy Opposition Whip in the Senate 1997–2001. She retired at the 2004 election. Her term expired on 30 June 2005. References
