It was the third single from his third album Magic Boul'vard, and was released in the first days of February 1992. The song, the singer's 12th single overall, achieved great success in France, becoming the best-selling single of the year. Song informationUnlike his previous singles, "Joy" was fully created by Feldman : he wrote the lyrics, composed and music and produced the song. The singer's friends Carole Fredericks, Joniece Jamison (who recorded with him the hit singles "Joue pas" in 1989 and "J'ai peur" in 1991), as well as the Chorus of the Little Children of Asnières performed the background vocals. The song is a tribute to the singer's daughter, named Joy, who was born a few time earlier. This pop song has dance sonorities and joyful percussion.[1] The song was also recorded in Spanish-language on the album Magic Boul'vard and features also on Feldman's compilations Best of and Two Feldman. In France, the single went straight to #15 on February 8, 1992, then entered the top ten and climbed until topping the chart for eight consecutive weeks. Then it stayed for other four weeks at #2, then didn't stop to drop rather quickly. It totalled 23 weeks in the top ten and 28 weeks on the chart (top 50), becoming Feldman's most successful songs in terms of chart.[2] Thanks to "Joy", the singer established what was at the time a record : to obtain three number-one hits (the previous two #1 were "Les Valses de Vienne" and "Petit Frank"). It was also Feldman's eighth top ten hit in France. The single is currently the 664th best-selling single of all time in France, with over 400,000 copies sold and is therefore Feldman's fourth biggest hit, behind "Petit Frank", "Les Valses de Vienne" and "Joue pas".[3] Track listings{{col-begin}}{{col-2}}
