This is also a popular Hindu pilgrimage site of West Bengal. The Kankalitala Temple as a Shakti Peeth{{main|Daksha Yaga|Shakti Peethas}}The mythology of Daksha yaga and Sati's self immolation is the story of origin behind Shakti Peethas. Shakti Peethas are holy abode of Devi formed due to the falling of body parts of the corpse of Sati Devi, when Shiva carried it and wandered through. There are 51 Shakti Peeth linking to the 51 alphabets in Sanskrit. Each temple has shrines for Shakti and Kalabhairava. The Shakti of the temple is addressed as "Devgarbha" and the Bhairava as "Ruru". It is believed that Sati Devi's bones have fallen here.[7]References1. ^1 {{cite web| url =http://birbhum.gov.in/kankalitala.htm| title = Kankalitala | accessdate = 2009-03-03 | last = | first = | work = | publisher =District Administration }} 2. ^{{cite web| url = http://www.india9.com/i9show/-West-Bengal/Kankalitala-29535.htm | title = Kankalitala | accessdate = 2009-03-03 | last = | first = | work = | publisher =india9.com }} 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://wbdemo5.nic.in/writereaddata/Directoryof_District_Block_GPs(RevisedMarch-2008).doc |format=PDF |title=Directory of District, Sub division, Panchayat Samiti/ Block and Gram Panchayats in West Bengal, March 2008 |date=2008-03-19 |page=1 |accessdate=2009-02-28 |work=West Bengal |publisher=National Informatics Centre, India |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20090225032419/http://wbdemo5.nic.in/writereaddata/Directoryof_District_Block_GPs%28RevisedMarch-2008%29.doc |archivedate=2009-02-25 |df= }} 4. ^{{cite web| url = http://offerings.nic.in/directory/adminreps/viewGPmapcvills.asp?gpcode=109024 | title = Reports of National Panchayat Directory | accessdate = 2009-03-03 | last = | first = | work = | publisher =Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Govt. of india }} 5. ^{{cite web | url =http://www.wbphed.gov.in/applications/Phedweb/Block2Villpdf.php?State_Cd=19&Dist_Cd=08&Blk_Cd=0016 | title = CENSUS DATA District Name :Birbhum(08) Block Name :Bolpur-Sriniketan |format=PDF| publisher =West Bengal Govt | work = | accessdate = 2009-03-06}} {{Dead link|date=October 2010|bot=H3llBot}} 6. ^{{cite web| url = http://wb.gov.in/BanglarMukh/Download?AlfrescoPath=WebContent/Departments/Home/Other_Documents&FileName=DELIMITATION.pdf| title = Press Note, Delimitation Commission| accessdate = 2009-03-15| work = Assembly Constituencies in West Bengal| publisher = Delimitation Commission| deadurl = yes| archiveurl = https://web.archive.org/web/20130529163454/http://wb.gov.in/BanglarMukh/Download?AlfrescoPath=WebContent%2FDepartments%2FHome%2FOther_Documents&FileName=DELIMITATION.pdf| archivedate = 2013-05-29| df = }} 7. ^{{cite web|title=Kottiyoor Devaswam Temple Administration Portal|url=http://kottiyoordevaswom.com/|work=kottiyoordevaswom.com/|publisher=Kottiyoor Devaswam|accessdate=20 July 2013}} External links
