The area of the district is {{convert|1214|km2|sp=us}}.[3] Its administrative center is the rural locality (a stanitsa) of Kavkazskaya.[1] Population: {{ru-census|p2010=44,445|p2002=45,343|p1989=43,625}} The population of Kavkazskaya accounts for 25.1% of the district's total population.
