Kenneth Rowntree (14 March 1915 – 21 February 1997) was a British artist. He was educated at Bootham School, York. As a Quaker, he was a conscientious objector in the Second World War, as his father Howard Doncaster Rowntree (1879-1974) had been during the First World War. Kenneth worked for the War Artists' Advisory Committee from 1940.[1] He was one of the Great Bardfield Artists[2] and taught at the Royal College of Art.[3] In 1939 Rowntree married architect Diana Rowntree née Buckley. Rowntree worked with the architect Erno Goldfinger to produce coloured glass panels in Goldfinger's Alexander Fleming House (now Metro Central Heights in the Elephant and Castle.[4] In 2009 his studio was sold at auction in Newcastle-on-Tyne.
