It is about {{convert|3|km|mi|0}} from the village and {{convert|6|km|mi|0}} south of the municipal center, Panagyurishte.^[1]^[2]

The castle has been dated to the 10th century AD and has since been ruined. The remains of the walls reach up to {{convert|6|m|ft|0}}.^[1]^[2]
