It is connected by the D38 highway. Kusonje was place of Serbian rebel masacre on Croatian soldiers and policeman during Croatian War of Independce. DemographicsAccording to the 2011 population census,[2] the village of Kusonje had 308 inhabitants. This represents 27.97% of its pre-war population according to the 1991 census. The Ottoman rule lasted until it was seized and reconquered by the Croats and Austrians in 1691. Exactly 300 years later, in 1991, war broke out in Croatia, of which Kusonje and Pakrac were a part. The JNA and Serbian Army briefly occupied the town in March 1991, but Croatian government forces swiftly won the land back. See also
