Leipold (born May 6, 1964) is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the head football coach at the University at Buffalo, following eight seasons at the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater (UWW).[1] During his tenure at UWW, the Wisconsin–Whitewater Warhawks won the NCAA Division III Football Championship in 2007, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, and 2014 and were runners-up in 2008. Their opponent in each of those title games was Mount Union. Leipold reached 100 victories faster than any coach in National Collegiate Athletic Association history, doing so in his 106th game on October 18, 2014. This broke the previous mark of 108 games set by Gil Dobie in 1921.[2] Leipold signed with the Bulls for the 2015 season, initially on a five-year contract. After a 5–7 record in his inaugural season in Buffalo, Leipold received an additional one-year extension that will keep him with the Bulls through 2020.[3] Head coaching record{{CFB Yearly Record Start | type = coach | team = | conf = | bowl = | poll = no}}{{CFB Yearly Record Subhead| name = Wisconsin–Whitewater Warhawks | conf = Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference | startyear = 2007 | endyear = 2014 }}{{CFB Yearly Record Entry | championship = national | year = 2007 | name = Wisconsin–Whitewater | overall = 14–1 | conference = 7–0 | confstanding = 1st | bowlname = NCAA Division III Championship | bowloutcome = W | ranking = no | ranking2 = no }}{{CFB Yearly Record Entry | championship = conference | year = 2008 | name = Wisconsin–Whitewater | overall = 13–2 | conference = 6–1 | confstanding = 1st | bowlname = NCAA Division III Championship | bowloutcome = L | ranking = no | ranking2 = no }}{{CFB Yearly Record Entry | championship = national | year = 2009 | name = Wisconsin–Whitewater | overall = 15–0 | conference = 7–0 | confstanding = 1st | bowlname = NCAA Division III Championship | bowloutcome = W | ranking = no | ranking2 = no }}{{CFB Yearly Record Entry | championship = national | year = 2010 | name = Wisconsin–Whitewater | overall = 15–0 | conference = 7–0 | confstanding = 1st | bowlname = NCAA Division III Championship | bowloutcome = W | ranking = no | ranking2 = no }}{{CFB Yearly Record Entry | championship = national | year = 2011 | name = Wisconsin–Whitewater | overall = 15–0 | conference = 7–0 | confstanding = 1st | bowlname = NCAA Division III Championship | bowloutcome = W | ranking = no | ranking2 = no }}{{CFB Yearly Record Entry | year = 2012 | name = Wisconsin–Whitewater | overall = 7–3 | conference = 5–2 | confstanding = T–2nd | ranking = no | ranking2 = no }}{{CFB Yearly Record Entry | championship = national | year = 2013 | name = Wisconsin–Whitewater | overall = 15–0 | conference = 7–0 | confstanding = 1st | bowlname = NCAA Division III Championship | bowloutcome = W | ranking = no | ranking2 = no }}{{CFB Yearly Record Entry | championship = national | year = 2014 | name = Wisconsin–Whitewater | overall = 15–0 | conference = 7–0 | confstanding = 1st | bowlname = NCAA Division III Championship | bowloutcome = W | ranking = no | ranking2 = no }}{{CFB Yearly Record Subtotal | name = Wisconsin–Whitewater | overall = 109–6 | confrecord = 53–3 }}{{CFB Yearly Record Subhead | name = Buffalo Bulls | conf = Mid-American Conference | startyear = 2015 | endyear = }}{{CFB Yearly Record Entry | year = 2015 | name = Buffalo | overall = 5–7 | conference = 3–5 | confstanding = 4th (East) | ranking = no | ranking2 = no }}{{CFB Yearly Record Entry | year = 2016 | name = Buffalo | overall = 2–10 | conference = 1–7 | confstanding = 6th (East) | ranking = no | ranking2 = no }}{{CFB Yearly Record Entry | year = 2017 | name = Buffalo | overall = 6–6 | conference = 4–4 | confstanding = T–3rd (East) | ranking = no | ranking2 = no }}{{CFB Yearly Record Entry | championship = division | year = 2018 | name = Buffalo | overall = 10–4 | conference = 7–1 | confstanding = 1st (East) | bowlname = Dollar General | bowloutcome = L | ranking = no | ranking2 = no }}{{CFB Yearly Record Subtotal | name = Buffalo | overall = 23–27 | confrecord = 15–17 }}{{CFB Yearly Record End | overall = 132–33 | bowls = no | poll = no }} References1. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/ub-football/ub-brings-in-proven-winner-20141201 |title=UB brings in proven winner |date=December 1, 2014 |agency=The Buffalo News |author=Gaughan, Mark |accessdate=December 2, 2014 |archiveurl=https://www.webcitation.org/6a25cQhk2?url=http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/ub-football/ub-brings-in-proven-winner-20141201 |archivedate=July 15, 2015 |deadurl=yes |df= }} 2. ^{{cite news|url=http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/11723353/lance-leipold-wisconsin-whitewater-warhawks-becomes-fastest-coach-100-wins-ncaa-history |title=Lance Leipold fastest to 100 wins |publisher=ESPN.com |date=October 18, 2014 |accessdate=October 19, 2014}} 3. ^http://www.wgrz.com/sports/ubuffalo-football-coach-leipold-agrees-to-1-year-extension/145770867 External links
