Lea Fite (January 4, 1955 – October 26, 2009) was an Alabama state legislator. Fite was elected as a Democrat to the Alabama House of Representatives in 2002. He attended Jacksonville State University and was a supermarket owner.[1][2] Fite died of a seizure on October 26, 2009. Lea Fite was instrumental in passing legislation in the Alabama House of Representatives to close a loophole denying coverage to victims of breast and cervical cancer.[3] Fite was known for bridging the gap between Republicans and Democrats in the Alabama State Legislature.[4] Fite was a politician reminiscent of better times. He was deeply connected with his constituents, and served the community both in a capacity as a politician and local community member.[5] References1. ^http://www.wsfa.com/Global/story.asp?S=11385190# {{DEFAULTSORT:Fite, Lea}}{{Alabama-politician-stub}}2. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.legislature.state.al.us/house/representatives/housebios/hd040.html |title=Archived copy |accessdate=2009-10-26 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20090812024121/http://www.legislature.state.al.us/HOUSE/representatives/housebios/hd040.html |archivedate=2009-08-12 |df= }} 3. ^http://www.annistonstar.com/pages/full_story/push?article-In+memory+of+Rep-+Lea+Fite%20&id=4325891-In+memory+of+Rep-+Lea+Fite&instance=2nd_right 4. ^http://www.annistonstar.com/pages/full_story/push?article-In+memory+of+Rep-+Lea+Fite%20&id=4325891-In+memory+of+Rep-+Lea+Fite&instance=2nd_right 5. ^http://www.politicalparlor.net/wp/2009/10/29/remembering-lea-fite/?+Home+of+Lawn+Mower+Repair)%26+Home+of+Lawn+Mower+Repair%29 6 : Members of the Alabama House of Representatives|Jacksonville State University alumni|Alabama Democrats|1955 births|2009 deaths|20th-century American politicians |
