}}Leonard W. Moore is Founder and President of Moore Industries, a manufacturer for the process control, system integration and factory automation industries. Moore founded the company in 1968 after recognizing a vital customer need that was going unnoticed. Working out of a friend’s garage/shop, Moore designed and built the first Moore Industries SCT signal converter, which soon evolved into a product line of six signal interfaces. In 1974, the company built the current headquarters in North Hills, CA, which employs hundreds of people today. Prior to founding Moore Industries, Moore attended Iowa State College. After returning from the US Army Anti-Aircraft Artillery, where he taught radar and mechanical analog computers, he worked at Hughes Aircraft, Swanson Engineering, Ronan Engineering and Waugh Controls Corporation. Throughout his tenure at these companies, he created industry-first, practical, instrumentation solutions. To date, his has six U.S. and several foreign patents for relating to electronic instrument packaging, signal conditioning and instrumentation, and monitoring systems. In 1996, he was elected an International Society of Automation (ISA) Fellow.[1] The ISA Fellow distinction recognizes Moore’s contributions to the advancement of signal conditioning instrumentation and monitoring systems, including Radio Frequency Interference and EMI protection. His continues to contribute to these fields, as Moore Industries’ miniMOORE line of multi-channel signal conditioners received an Engineer’s Choice Award from Control Engineering in 2009. In 2009, company founder Leonard W. Moore became an Honorary Member for the International Society of Automation (ISA). The Honorary Member distinction is the highest honor bestowed by the Society. Moore received his Honorary Member distinction for "contributions in the advancement of the arts and sciences of automation over a 40-year career of innovation, product development, and business leadership at Moore Industries." [2] He is also a State of California Registered Professional Engineer in Control Systems Engineering and has a State of California General and Electrical Contractors License. Moore continues to lead Moore Industries into emerging fields of technology. The company remains in the San Fernando Valley, most recently being named a top manufacturer by the San Fernando Valley Business Journal. To date, Moore Industries has nine global locations encompassing North America, Asia, Europe and Australia. In addition to his professional developments and contributions to the automation industries, Moore is an avid fun-seeker. He was a professional racecar driver and received his pilot’s license at 73.[3] He continues to fly his restored Ercoupe model 415D airplane most every week. External links
