History

{{see also|History of Cardiff City F.C.}}

Founded in 1899, Cardiff City did not appoint their first full-time manager in 1910, when Davy McDougall was appointed player-manager. Prior to this the team had been selected by the club's directors. After finishing in fourth place during his first season, the club's board decided to appoint a more experienced manager, hiring Fred Stewart.[1]
