}}This is a list of diplomatic missions of Libya. Under the rule of Muammar al-Gaddafi, Libya broke practice with almost all other countries in 1979 by renaming their embassies "People's Bureaus", with the diplomatic staff known as a local "revolutionary committee". Libyan People's Bureaus were involved in a shooting incident at the Libyan embassy in London in 1984, and believed to be involved in the La Belle nightclub bombing in West Berlin in 1986.{{Citation needed|date=September 2008}} Earlier in 1981, the U.S. government closed the Libyan People's Bureau in Washington, D.C. and expelled the Libyan staff in response to conduct that generally violated internationally accepted standards of diplomatic behavior.{{Citation needed|date=September 2008}} After making amends to the British government and avowing state sponsorship of terrorism Libya reopened its missions in London in 1999, and Washington, D.C. in 2006.{{Citation needed|date=September 2008}} Aside from its reapproachment with the West, Libya has also been pursuing deeper ties with African states.{{Citation needed|date=September 2008}} During the 2011 Libyan civil war, there were two governments claiming to be the de jure government of Libya. One government was led by Gaddafi and the other was the National Transitional Council. Some countries had recognised the NTC as the governing authority of Libya and Libyan ambassadors to those countries were nominated by the NTC. The NTC was awarded Libya's seat at the United Nations in September 2011 following a vote by the General Assembly.[1] Africa- {{Flag|Algeria}}
