The series focuses on a high school show choir, also known as a glee club, in the fictional William McKinley High School in Lima, Ohio.[7] Will Schuester (Matthew Morrison) takes over the glee club after the former teacher (Stephen Tobolowsky) is fired for inappropriate contact with a male student. With a rag-tag group of misfit teenagers, Will attempts to restore the glee club to its former glory while tending to his developing feelings for his co-worker Emma (Jayma Mays), as well as defending the glee club's existence from the conniving cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch). A major focus of the series is the students in the glee club: their relationships as couples, their love of singing and desire for popularity coming into conflict due to their membership in the low-status club, and the many vicissitudes of life in high school and as a teenager. The series premiered on May 19, 2009 and ended on March 20, 2015. {{Aired episodes|num=121|title=Glee|finished=all|seasons=6}}[1][6] Series overview| infoheader = Nielsen ratings | infoA = Average total viewers including DVR (millions) | infoB = Rank | color1 = #A9233C | link1 = | episodes1 = 22 | start1 = {{Start date|2009|5|19}} | end1 = {{End date|2010|6|8}} | infoA1 = 9.77 | infoB1 = 33[8] | color2 = #4AC3FF | link2 = | episodes2 = 22 | start2 = {{Start date|2010|9|21}} | end2 = {{End date|2011|5|24}} | infoA2 = 10.11 | infoB2 = 43[9] | color3 = #F8E61E | link3 = | episodes3 = 22 | start3 = {{Start date|2011|9|20}} | end3 = {{End date|2012|5|22}} | infoA3 = 8.71 | infoB3 = 56[10] | color4 = #56C8BA | link4 = | episodes4 = 22 | start4 = {{Start date|2012|9|13}} | end4 = {{End date|2013|5|9}} | infoA4 = 8.26 | infoB4 = 50[11] | color5 = #AC201B | link5 = | episodes5 = 20 | start5 = {{Start date|2013|9|26}} | end5 = {{End date|2014|5|13}} | infoA5 = 4.57 | infoB5 = 105[12] | color6 = #E3FF00 | link6 = | episodes6 = 13 | start6 = {{Start date|2015|1|9}} | end6 = {{End date|2015|3|20}} | infoA6 = 3.14 | infoB6 = 148[13] }} EpisodesSeason 1 (2009–10){{Main|Glee (season 1)}}{{:Glee (season 1)}}Season 2 (2010–11){{Main|Glee (season 2)}}"The Sue Sylvester Shuffle" (episode 11), broadcast immediately after Super Bowl XLV on February 6, 2011, was watched by 26.8 million viewers in the U.S., as the highest-rated scripted TV broadcast in 3 years.[14] {{:Glee (season 2)}}Season 3 (2011–12){{Main|Glee (season 3)}}{{:Glee (season 3)}}Season 4 (2012–13){{Main|Glee (season 4)}}{{:Glee (season 4)}}Season 5 (2013–14){{Main|Glee (season 5)}}{{:Glee (season 5)}}Season 6 (2015){{Main|Glee (season 6)}}{{:Glee (season 6)}}Ratings{{Television ratings graph| title = Glee | country = U.S. | color1 = #A9233C | color2 = #4AC3FF | color3 = #F8E61E | color4 = #56C8BA | color5 = #AC201B | color6 = #E3FF00 | x_intervals = 7 | y_intervals = 5 | no_table = y | refs = [15] |- | 9.62 | 7.50 | 6.69 | 6.63 | 7.40 | 7.28 | 7.65 | 7.15 | 7.53 | 7.36 | 8.17 | 8.15 | 8.13 | 13.66 | 12.98 | 12.18 | 11.62 | 11.57 | 11.47 | 11.37 | 9.02 | 11.07 |- | 12.45 | 13.51 | 11.20 | 11.36 | 11.76 | 10.99 | 11.70 | 10.41 | 11.68 | 11.07 | 26.80 | 11.58 | 10.53 | 11.58 | 11.92 | 11.15 | 9.80 | 8.62 | 8.85 | 9.29 | 8.87 | 11.80 |- | 9.21 | 8.60 | 8.42 | 7.47 | 6.91 | 7.08 | 7.90 | 7.11 | 7.13 | 7.50 | 9.07 | 7.81 | 6.99 | 7.46 | 6.76 | 6.23 | 6.90 | 6.01 | 6.67 | 6.09 | 6.03 | 7.46 |- | 7.41 | 7.46 | 5.79 | 6.07 | 5.68 | 5.22 | 4.62 | 5.39 | 5.43 | 5.26 | 6.79 | 5.48 | 6.03 | 5.13 | 6.72 | 5.37 | 5.91 | 6.67 | 6.14 | 5.24 | 5.19 | 5.91 |- | 5.06 | 4.42 | 7.39 | 4.02 | 4.22 | 4.09 | 2.84 | 3.29 | 2.99 | 2.68 | 2.30 | 2.80 | 2.68 | 2.59 | 2.78 | 2.44 | 2.45 | 2.41 | 2.10 | 1.87 |- | 2.34 | 2.34 | 1.98 | 1.82 | 1.85 | 1.58 | 1.81 | 1.86 | 1.69 | 1.81 | 2.02 | 2.69 | 2.54 }} See also{{Portal|Glee}}
