词条 | Little Mountain (Ohio) |
释义 |
The first permanent settler arrived at Little Mountain in 1815.[3] In the late 19th Century, a resort was located near the summit;[4] it has been the location of various hotels, the first built in 1831, the last demolished in 1925. Among the resort's frequent visitors were James A. Garfield and John D. Rockefeller. A nearby settlement called Joice's Corners existed briefly during the time of the resort.[3][5] Nearby Holden Arboretum provides tours of Little Mountain, whose access is otherwise restricted, and owns much of the land encompassing it.[3][6] Notes1. ^{{gnis|1066811|Little Mountain [summit]}} 2. ^{{cite map|author=United States Geological Survey|year=1994|title=Mentor, OH|url=https://ngmdb.usgs.gov/img4/ht_icons/Browse/OH/OH_Mentor_225766_1994_24000.jpg|type=Topographic map|series=7.5 Minute Series|scale=1:24,000|location=Reston, VA|publisher=United States Geological Survey|access-date=2017-07-12}} 3. ^1 2 3 {{cite book|title=A Journey through Time on Little Mountain|year=1992|publisher=The Holden Arboretum}} 4. ^{{gnis|1062856|Little Mountain [populated place]}} 5. ^{{cite web|title=A Brief History of the Village of Kirtland Hills|url=http://www.lakecountyohio.gov/Portals/32/HistoryKH.pdf|year=1988|orig-year=revised 1990/1994/2011|publisher=lakecountyohio.gov|page=5}} 6. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.holdenarb.org/education/adult-group-tours/|title=Adult Group Programs|work=The Holden Arboretum|accessdate=2017-07-12}} References{{reflist}}Further reading
