释义 |
The Lockhart Railroad was a shortline railroad that operated in South Carolina in the early 20th century. The Lockhart Railroad was chartered by the South Carolina General Assembly in October 1899[1] to operate a line from Lockhart Mills at Lockhart, South Carolina, to a connection with the Southern Railway (U.S.) at Lockhart Junction, South Carolina, approximately 14 miles away.[2] The line opened for operation in May 1900.[3] Lockhart Mills was shuttered in the 1980s, but the rail line had been abandoned before that. Officially, the Lockhart branch was abandoned by the Southern Railway in the early 1970s.[4] References1. ^Wikipedia, WikiProject Trains, ICC valuations, Lockhart Railroad {{DEFAULTSORT:Lockhart Railroad}}{{US-rail-transport-stub}}{{SouthCarolina-transport-stub}}2. ^[https://books.google.com/books?id=l6opAAAAYAAJ&pg=PA10&lpg=PA10&dq=%22lockhart+mills%22+railroad&source=bl&ots=lahaJwkUhx&sig=UdFNql51usYGrm_RTii8XzJqJZM&hl=en&ei=kqIsTeqVDoOC8gaWoqHdCQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=5&sqi=2&ved=0CDEQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=%22lockhart%20mills%22%20railroad&f=false/Lockhart_Railroad/ Annual report of the Railroad Commissioner of the state of South Carolina, 1900, page 10] 3. ^Wikipedia, WikiProject Trains, ICC valuations, Lockhart Railroad 4. ^Abandoned Rails, Lockhart Junction to Lockhart 2 : Defunct South Carolina railroads|Railway companies established in 1900 |
