The population was 590 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Johnstown, Pennsylvania Metropolitan Statistical Area. GeographyIt is located approximately at 39.8015 by -78.9488.[3] According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of {{convert|16.7|sqmi|km2}}, all of it land. Demographics{{US Census population|2010= 595 |estyear=2016 |estimate=571 |estref=[4] |footnote=U.S. Decennial Census[5] }} As of the census[6] of 2000, there were 590 people, 213 households, and 172 families residing in the township. The population density was 35.4 people per square mile (13.6/km²). There were 257 housing units at an average density of 15.4/sq mi (5.9/km²). The racial makeup of the township was 99.32% White, 0.51% Native American, and 0.17% from two or more races. There were 213 households out of which 35.7% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 70.9% were married couples living together, 5.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 18.8% were non-families. 16.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.4% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.77 and the average family size was 3.11. In the township the population was spread out with 27.3% under the age of 18, 6.3% from 18 to 24, 31.4% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 11.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females, there were 110.0 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 109.3 males. The median income for a household in the township was $31,333, and the median income for a family was $35,500. Males had a median income of $27,422 versus $18,417 for females. The per capita income for the township was $13,301. About 11.0% of families and 15.1% of the population were below the poverty line, including 18.2% of those under age 18 and 25.0% of those age 65 or over.
