He played representative level rugby union (RU) for Wales, and at club level for Treorchy RFC and Cardiff RFC, as a flanker, i.e. number 6 or 7,[1][2] and representative level rugby league (RL) for Wales, and at club level for Oldham (both pre- and post-World War II), as a {{rlp|pr}}, i.e. number 8 or 10, during the era of contested scrums.[3][4] BackgroundRees was born in Treherbert, Wales, and he died aged 66 in Manchester.
