It is native to Europe, eastern Asia, northern Africa, northern North America, including Canada, and in northern regions of the United States.[1] It grows {{cvt|10|to|40|cm|in|0}} tall with basal leaves {{cvt|3.5|to|12|cm|in|frac=8}} long and {{cvt|2|to|6|mm|in|2}} wide.
