HistoryLyford was founded in 1892, and named in honor of W. H. Lyford, a railroad official.[3] A post office was established at Lyford in 1892, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1912.[4] GeographyLyford is located at {{coord|39|39|00|N|87|22|15|W|type:city}} at an elevation of 541 feet.
