词条 | Martin McGrady |
释义 |
By running the odd distance, McGrady did not face softer competition. Reigning Olympic Champions/World Record holders Ralph Doubell (800 m) and Lee Evans (400 m) wanted the good race against McGrady.[7][8] The racing rivalry between Evans and McGrady is still remembered. They are pictured at the finish of a 600 on the cover of the March 1968 issue of Track and Field News, of course with McGrady taking the victory over a leaning Evans and Jim Kemp.[9] McGrady won three straight National championships[10] and had three straight victories at the prestigious Millrose Games. McGrady attended Garfield High School in Akron and studied Medical Technology at Central State University, where he was coached by David Youngblade. He set the first of three world records in the 600 while at Central State, just a week before winning the 1966 NCAA Men's Indoor Track and Field Championships. He also tied the world record in the 500 metres. On October 8, 2010, Youngblade had the honor to induct McGrady into the Central State University Hall of Fame.[11] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://personal.bgsu.edu/~jsquire/indoorchamps.html|title=Ohio's Winners at Indoor National Championships|website=Personal.bgsu.edu|accessdate=19 October 2014}} {{authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Mcgrady, Martin}}2. ^[https://web.archive.org/web/20110703112930/http://157.166.255.4/vault/article/magazine/MAG1083403/index.htm] 3. ^{{cite web|url=http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1083365/2/index.htm#ixzz14oi0l1Pm|title=CNN Sports provided by Bleacher Report - CNN.com|website=Sportsillustrated.cnn.com|accessdate=19 October 2014}} 4. ^[https://web.archive.org/web/20110717083403/http://mb.trackandfieldnews.com/discussion/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1154 ] 5. ^{{cite web|url=http://espn.go.com/moresports/columns/hollobaugh_jeff/257973.html|title=ESPN.com - MORESPORTS - Mills finishes on top -- again|website=Espn.go.com|accessdate=19 October 2014}} 6. ^{{cite news|last=Wallace |first=William N. |url=https://www.nytimes.com/1992/02/09/sports/track-and-field-unexpected-performances-steal-spotlight-at-millrose.html |title=TRACK AND FIELD - Unexpected Performances Steal Spotlight at Millrose |newspaper=The New York Times |date=1992-02-09 |accessdate=2017-03-06}} 7. ^{{cite web|url=http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vault/article/magazine/MAG1083365/index.htm|title=CNN Sports provided by Bleacher Report|website=Sportsillustrated.cnn.com|accessdate=19 October 2014}} 8. ^{{cite news|url=http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,876645,00.html|title=Sport: Ralph the Rapscallion|date=23 February 1970|work=TIME.com|accessdate=19 October 2014}} 9. ^{{cite web|url= https://web.archive.org/web/20130430003332/http://www.trackandfieldnews.com/index.php/special-articles/137 |title=Past Covers 1968 |website=Trackandfieldnews.com |date= |accessdate=2013-04-30}} 10. ^[https://web.archive.org/web/20080303011633/http://www.usatf.org/statistics/champions/USAIndoorTF/men/m500m.asp ] 11. ^{{cite web|url=https://www.facebook.com/pages/Wilberforce-OH/Central-State-University-Homecoming-2010/160062334010251|title=Central State University - Homecoming 2010|work=Facebook|accessdate=19 October 2014}} 7 : Sportspeople from Akron, Ohio|American male sprinters|Former world record holders in athletics (track and field)|Central State University alumni|Deaths from brain tumor|2006 deaths|1946 births |
