Nibley's parents to the LDS Church.[4] Oregon Geographic Names links the community name to Thomas McEwen, a settler who filed a land claim here in 1888. The McEwen post office opened in 1893 and closed in 1943.[5]References1. ^1 {{cite web | work = Geographic Names Information System| publisher = United States Geological Survey | date =November 28, 1980| url ={{Gnis3|1136524}}| title = McEwen| accessdate =November 11, 2016}} 2. ^1 {{cite book |title= Oregon Atlas & Gazetteer |edition= 7th |year= 2008 |publisher= DeLorme |location= Yarmouth, Maine |isbn= 0-89933-347-8 |page= 78}} 3. ^{{cite book|last=Bailey|first=Barbara Ruth|title=Main Street: Northeastern Oregon|publisher=Oregon Historical Society|year=1982|isbn=0-87595-073-6|pages=21, 51}} 4. ^{{cite book|last=Deumling|first=Dietrich|title=The Roles of the Railroad in the Development of the Grande Ronde Valley (masters thesis)|publisher=Northern Arizona University|location=Flagstaff, Arizona|date=May 1972|oclc=4383986|ref=81}} 5. ^{{Cite OGN|7th|page=625}} External links
