The track was released by EMI Music as the first single from her first Spanish language album Todo Me Recuerda a Ti in 1984. The song earned the Grammy Award for Best Mexican/Mexican-American Performance at the 27th Grammy Awards, being the second time that this award was handed out.[1] Easton and Miguel's winning resulted in controversy with Mexican-American musicians, and a protest ensued.[1] The award became the second Grammy for Easton, after being recognized as the Best New Artist in 1981, and the first for Miguel.[2][3] The song was later included on Miguel's studio album Palabra de Honor.[4] References1. ^1 {{cite journal| last = Loza| first = Steven| year = 1993| title = Musical Life: Los Angeles, 1945-90| journal = Barrio Rhythm: Mexican American Music in Los Angeles| publisher = Board of Trustees of the University of Illinois| volume = | issue = | page = 115| url = https://books.google.com/books?id=Ocz3wYCaxt8C&pg=PA115&dq=sheena+easton+luis+miguel&hl=es&ei=Ox0_TaiaPIvSsAPay7nyBA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=2&ved=0CC0Q6AEwATgK#v=onepage&q=sheena%20easton%20luis%20miguel&f=false| accessdate = January 25, 2011}} {{Sheena Easton}}{{Luis Miguel singles}}2. ^{{cite journal| last = Taylor| first = Chuck| date = October 19, 1996| title = For Sheena Easton, Survival Meant Moving Beyond Radio| journal = Billboard| publisher = Nielsen Business Media, Inc| volume = 108| issue = 42| page = 115| url = https://books.google.com/books?id=yQkEAAAAMBAJ&pg=RA1-PA92&dq=sheena+easton+luis+miguel&hl=es&ei=PyI_TauZHorEsAOb0cHrBA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=5&ved=0CDoQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q=sheena%20easton%20luis%20miguel&f=false| accessdate = January 25, 2011}} 3. ^{{cite journal| last = Llewellyn| first = Howell| date = October 2, 1999| title = Miguel Proudly Sticks to Spanish on 'Amarte' from WMI| journal = Billboard| publisher = Nielsen Business Media, Inc| volume = 111| issue = 40| page = 24| url = https://books.google.com/books?id=cggEAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA24&dq=sheena+easton+luis+miguel&hl=es&ei=PyI_TauZHorEsAOb0cHrBA&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=9&ved=0CEoQ6AEwCA#v=onepage&q=sheena%20easton%20luis%20miguel&f=false| accessdate = January 25, 2011}} 4. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.allmusic.com/album/palabra-de-honor-r702784|title=Palabra de Honor – Luis Miguel|accessdate=January 25, 2011|work=Allmusic|publisher=Rovi Corporation}} 13 : 1984 songs|Luis Miguel songs|Sheena Easton songs|Vocal duets|Spanish-language songs|Songs written by Juan Carlos Calderón|Songs written by Luis Gómez Escolar|1984 singles|EMI Records singles|Song recordings produced by Juan Carlos Calderón|Grammy Award for Best Mexican/Mexican-American Album|1980s ballads|Pop ballads |
