The municipality of Menzel Temime was established on 19 February 1921, the municipal boundaries stretching over an area of 25,000 hectares. A member of the Nabeul Governorate, it has 44,424 inhabitants.[2] The city was founded in the eleventh century by Moez ibn Temmime, a member of the Normans. It is an economic center, including for the food industry (canneries of soft drinks) and the textile industry (garments, shoes and hosiery). Peanuts, tomatoes, and peppers are all harvested in the area.
