}}Mesokristensenia is an extinct genus of moth in the family Mesokristenseniidae. It existed in what is now China during the middle Jurassic period. It was named by Huang Diying, André Nel and Joël Minet in 2010, and the type species is Mesokristensenia latipenna.[1] Currently, three species are known. They were discovered in the Middle Jurassic Jiulongshan Formation, Daohugou beds (in Inner Mongolia). The new family could represent the sister group of the Micropterigidae. Mesokristensenia differs from all extant Lepidoptera, but one genus, Agathiphaga (Agathiphagidae), in retaining four median veins in the forewing.[1] References1. ^1 {{Cite journal |authors=Huang Diying, André Nel, Joël Minet |year=2010 |title=A new family of moths from the Middle Jurassic (Insecta: Lepidoptera) |journal=Acta Geologica Sinica |volume=84 |issue=4 |pages=874–885 |doi=10.1111/j.1755-6724.2010.00233.x}} {{Taxonbar|from=Q6821513}}{{paleo-Lepidoptera-stub}}{{jurassic-animal-stub}} 7 : Extinct moths|Moth genera|Fossil Lepidoptera|Middle Jurassic insects|Fossil taxa described in 2010|Moths described in 2010|Jurassic insects of Asia |
