It occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. It grows to a size of 51 cm in length. Its common name comes from a distinct horseshoe-shaped marking on their side.[1] DistributionThe fish occurs from Houtman Abrolhos, Western Australia, to Wilsons Promontory, Victoria, and south to Bicheno, Tasmania.[2] They are often found around rocky reefs, and in deeper bays and estuaries.[1] References1. ^1 {{cite web|last1=Bray|first1=Dianne|title=Horseshoe Leatherjacket, Meuschenia hippocrepis|url=http://www.fishesofaustralia.net.au/Home/species/807|website=Fishes of Australia|accessdate=1 October 2014}} 2. ^{{cite book|last=Edgar|first=Graham J.|title=Australian Marine Life: The plants and animals of temperate waters|edition=Second|year=2008|publisher=New Holland|location=Sydney|isbn=9781921517174}}
