"Mike" O'Pake (February 2, 1940 – December 27, 2010) was an American politician who served as a Democratic member of the Pennsylvania State Senate for the 11th District from 1973 to 2010. He had been the Democratic Whip in Pennsylvania since 2000, having been elected by his colleagues to the position for the 6th consecutive time.[1] He was previously a member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives from 1969 through 1972. O'Pake, an alumnus of Saint Joseph's University, was honored on campus with the naming of a sports complex in his name, the O'Pake Recreational Center. Early life and educationO'Pake was born in Reading, Pennsylvania to Michael E. and Anna M. O'Pake. He graduated from Reading Central Catholic High School in 1957.
