CareerFarmer was born in Leicester. He began his football career as an apprentice with Birmingham City in 1961, and turned professional the following year. Described as a "tall, well-built midfielder with a powerful shot",[2] Farmer scored on his debut in the First Division on 1 February 1964, deputising for Malcolm Beard in a 3–2 defeat at Ipswich Town.[3] This proved to be his only first-team appearance for the club, and in the 1965 close season he joined Lincoln City.[2] Farmer spent only one season with Lincoln, playing 22 games, all in the Fourth Division,[4] before moving into non-league football with Skegness Town and Arnold.[2] Prior to the 1970–71 season he signed for Grantham, then playing in the Midland League. By the time his Grantham career ended some four-and-a-half years and 143 games later, he had won two Midland League titles, a Southern League Division One North title and contributed to the club's Southern League runners-up spot in 1974, though in 1973–74 season he spent time on loan at Oadby Town and took no part in Grantham's run to the Third Round of the FA Cup.[5][6] After leaving professional football he worked in finance.[5] References1. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.neilbrown.newcastlefans.com/player11/mickfarmer.htm |title=Mick Farmer |work=UK A–Z Transfers |publisher=Neil Brown |accessdate=19 July 2015}} 2. ^1 2 {{cite book |last=Matthews |first=Tony |title=Birmingham City: A Complete Record |year=1995 |publisher=Breedon Books |location=Derby |page=86 |isbn=978-1-85983-010-9}} 3. ^Matthews, p. 199. 4. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.redimps.com/archive3/index.mv?cat=players&drop=playerdetsdrop&play=farm01 |title=Mick Farmer |work=Lincoln City FC Archive |publisher=Lincoln City F.C. |accessdate=21 May 2009}} 5. ^1 {{cite web |url=http://englandprogrammes.com/gtfcstats2007/index.php?file=player&id=512 |title=Mick Farmer |work=Grantham Town FC Stats |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20110710193228/http://englandprogrammes.com/gtfcstats2007/index.php?file=player&id=512 |archivedate=10 July 2011}} 6. ^{{cite web |url=http://www.fchd.info/GRANTHAM.HTM |title=Grantham |work=Football Club History Database |publisher=Richard Rundle |accessdate=21 May 2009}} External links
