Mikana is situated on the western shore of Red Cedar Lake and is southwest of Birchwood, in the town of Cedar Lake. HistoryMikana was platted in 1902, soon after the railroad was extended to that point.[3] Mikana is an Ojibwe word meaning "road" (or "trail").[4] Mikana had a post office, which opened on June 3, 1902, and closed on October 21, 1995.[5] AttractionsMikana is known in the region for its 4 July celebration, in particular its parade which is colloquially referred to as "The Biggest Littlest Fourth of July Parade."[6] ImagesReferences{{Commons category|Mikana, Wisconsin}}1. ^{{cite web|url=http://tools.usps.com/go/ZipLookupAction!input.action|title=USPS - Look Up a ZIP Code|accessdate=2012-02-15|author=United States Postal Service|year=2012}} {{Barron County, Wisconsin}}{{BarronCountyWI-geo-stub}}2. ^{{gnis|1569456}} 3. ^{{cite book|last=Gordon|first=Newton S.|title=History of Barron County, Wisconsin|url=https://books.google.com/books?id=0dk4AQAAMAAJ&pg=PA1145|year=1922|publisher=H.C.
