MHS serves the communities and surrounding areas of Milledgeville, Chadwick, Lanark, Mt. Carroll, Savanna, and Thomson.[2][3] The campus is located 13 miles north of Sterling, Illinois, and serves a mixed village and rural residential community. Academics{{Expand section|date=March 2010}}Potential reference/citation:[4] AthleticsMilledgeville High School competes in the Northwest Upstate Illini Conference and is a member school in the Illinois High School Association. Their mascot is the Missiles, with school colors of orange and black. The school has 1 state championship on record in team athletics and activities.[2][5] MHS provides athletic opportunities for a variety of sports including: Football, Volleyball, Golf (coop with Eastland High School), Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Softball, Baseball, Boys Track and Field (coop with Eastland High School), and Girls Track and Field (coop with Eastland High School).[6] Milledgeville High School won the IHSA 2013 Class 1A State Championship in girls softball. The team had a 28-3 record and won 19 straight games to win the title. Milledgeville was led in pitching by Emily Bush who was 17 and 1 her senior season and 33 and 2 her last two years in the circle. Morgan Adolph hit a 3 run home run in the championship game, Kelsey Hayen added a solo home run, and Allyson Bush had the game-winning hit in the 5 to 4 victory. This championship followed Milledgeville's 3rd-place trophy in 2012. Allyson Bush, Taylor Grenoble, Emily Bush, Kelsey Hayen, and Morgan Adolph all had 2 hits a piece in the title game.
