The station is located near the intersection of Capitol Avenue, Great Mall Parkway, and Montague Expressway. A pedestrian bridge will connect to the elevated Montague light rail station, which will replace the Great Mall Main Transit Center.[1] {{As of|February 2019}}, the station is tentatively planned to open on November 1, 2019.[2] HistoryThe station and the $2.3-billion Silicon Valley BART extension broke ground in 2012.[3] Completion had been expected in 2016,[4][5] but the opening was pushed back repeatedly. {{As of|2018}}, the project has been delayed three years. The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) received a $900 million federal grant for the $2.3-billion Silicon Valley extension in 2012.[6] Buses from Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) and AC Transit will serve the station. Station layout
The station occupies {{convert|27|acre|ha|abbr=on}} and is co-located with the Montague Light Rail station, near the North San Jose/Milpitas high-tech job hub and the Great Mall of the Bay Area. The concourse level will be in a building on the surface, while the two side platforms will be underground, just below the surface. The six-story[7][8] 1,200 space parking garage is owned and operated by VTA; thus parking is open to light rail and bus patrons in addition to BART riders.
