The Ministry of Industry ({{lang-th|กระทรวงอุตสาหกรรม}}; {{RTGS|Krasuang Utsahakam}}; Abrv: M-Industry) is a cabinet ministry in the Government of Thailand. The ministry is responsible for the promotion and regulation of industries. The ministry is headed by a Minister of Industry, Mrs Atchaka Sibunruang.[1]

History

The Ministry of Industry started out in 1933 as a division or the Industrial Division ({{lang-th|กองอุตสาหกรรม}}) in the Department of Commerce ({{lang-th|กรมพาณิชย์)}} (now Ministry of Commerce) of the Ministry of Economics ({{lang-th|กระทรวงเศรษฐกิจ)}} (now defunct). In 1941 the division was upgraded to the Department of Industry (still in the Economic Ministry). On 5 May 1942 the Ministry of Industry was created in its own right.[2]
