He rose to a leading scholar in Najaf, and moved to Qom in 1979. Ayatollah Alavi Gorgani has studied under the late Ayatollah Bourujerdi, Ayatollah Khomeni, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Araki and Ayatollah Golpaygani.[5][6] See also
