释义 |
HistoryMon Louis Island was first settled in the early 18th century by French Louisiana colonists. A land grant was made to Nicholas Baudin, Sieur de Miragouane, on November 12, 1710. Baudin was from [Rochefort, France having come to Mobile in 1706 at the age of 20 years.. He established a settlement on the northern end of the island known as Miragouane. The island eventually came to be called Mon Louis, in honor of his son Loius Alexandre Baudin known as " MON LOUIS". By the 19th century, the island was populated by people originally from various countries of origin and Creoles, along with a mix of ethnic groups.[2] References1. ^1 {{Gnis|149980|Mon Louis Island}} {{coord|30|36|N|88|14|W|source:kolossus-eswiki|display=title}}2. ^1 {{cite web|url=http://www.mobilebaynep.com/site/news_pubs/news/Documents/State%20of%20Bay%20Report/MON%20%20LOUIS%20%20ISLAND.pdf |title=Mon Louis Island |author=Blair Bateman |publisher=Mobile Bay National Estuary Program |accessdate=25 April 2010 |deadurl=yes |archiveurl=https://web.archive.org/web/20090106202019/http://www.mobilebaynep.com/site/news_pubs/news/Documents/State%20of%20Bay%20Report/MON%20%20LOUIS%20%20ISLAND.pdf |archivedate=January 6, 2009 }} 3 : Islands of Alabama|Landforms of Mobile County, Alabama|Mobile Bay |
