Moordener Kill translates to "Murderer Creek", with moordenaar being the modern Dutch word for "murderer" and kill for "creek".[3] The name comes from the fact that the creek was the site of an ambush of Dutch settlers by Native Americans in 1643 in which 7 men and 2 women were killed.[4]See also
