Morton Frozen Foods is the brand name of a now-discontinued line of frozen foods, including honey buns, jelly donuts, and pot pies, that was distributed nationwide in the United States for almost 50 years. It was ultimately acquired by ConAgra Foods. HistoryIn 1940, Harold Morton began making a chicken and noodle dish sold in glass jars in Louisville, Kentucky.[1] The business transitioned to frozen foods after World War II, and the product line expanded to pot pies and dessert pastries.[1] The manufacturing plant relocated to Crozet, Virginia, in Albemarle County and Webster City, Iowa. Morton Frozen Foods' ownership changed several times. Its owners would include the Continental Baking Company, Del Monte [2] (which itself was a division of R.J. Reynolds), and finally ConAgra Foods,[3] which shut down the Crozet plant in 2000.[1] References1. ^1 2 {{cite web|title=Morton's: An Old Kentucky Recipe|url=http://crozetgazette.com/CrozetGazetteFeb07.pdf|author=Phil James|publisher=Crozet Gazette|date=7 February 2007|format=PDF}} 2. ^{{cite web|title=RJR Foods Adds ITT Baking Unit|publisher=New York Times|url=https://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9F02E5DE133BF93AA1575BC0A967948260&scp=5&sq=Morton+frozen+foods&st=nyt|date=1981-08-29}} 3. ^{{cite web|url=https://query.nytimes.com/gst/fullpage.html?res=9A0DE3DD1F39F934A35756C0A960948260&scp=11&sq=Morton+frozen+foods&st=nyt|title=ConAgra to Buy Del Monte Unit|author=Reuters|date=1986-05-07|publisher=New York Times}} External links
