The school, founded in 2006, is a joint project between major Russian and international business leaders. The mandate for SKOLKOVO was to become a platform where new generation of the Russian leaders would develop – be it entrepreneurs, corporate executives or public officials. SKOLKOVO Business School is funded solely by its commercial activities and private investment. One of the first SKOLKOVO International Advisory Board members was Lee Kuan Yew, the Minister Mentor of the Republic of Singapore. History{{Prose|date=June 2010}}
To date (December 2018), 2200 students of degree and entrepreneurial programmes and 18,300 corporate programme participants have completed their training at the Moscow School of Management SKOLKOVO. CampusThe concept and design of the campus were conceived by well-known British architect David Adjaye as a reflection on the ideas of the great artist Kazimir Malevich.[1][2] The architectural project of the Skolkovo campus was presented in the Russian pavilion at the 11th Venice biennale[3][4] Skolkovo campus represents a disk with four different-sized buildings located on its roof. The main building, also known as the disk, features seven clusters named after the continents and BRIC countries. The Campus has 16 classrooms and 49 rooms for project and group work. Buildings on the roof are a dormitory, a hotel, an administrative building and a sports centre. \\[5] The SKOLKOVO Campus was shortlisted as one of the best Russian buildings of the last decade according to the daily British briefing The Calvert Journal. The journalists mentioned that the SKOLKOVO Campus building “is reflective of both the rebellious nature of Russian art and the innovation agenda of SKOLKOVO”. Degree Programmes{{Infobox business school rankings| Econ = NR | FT = NR }} SKOLKOVO Business School offers two intakes of MBA programmes per year, one Executive MBA, starting each spring and EMBA for Eurasia – joint dual degree programme with HKUST Business School. Both the MBA and EMBA programmes are part-time (4 days a month), including 2 international (Silicon Valley and China and Hong Kong) modules, with guest professors from leading global business schools and local experts. The MBA program is designed so that all the fundamental core courses are learnt in the first half of the programme (first 7-8 modules). The second half of the program is focused more on applicability of all the skills and knowledge in Project work. The school annually holds a grants competition for MBA and half of the each cohort consists of students who received scholarships.[6] The final module of the SKOLKOVO MBA is conducted under the extreme conditions of the Kamchatka Peninsula. The objective of this location is to give participants an opportunity to explore leadership qualities and teamwork skills in conditions of uncertainty. The EMBA program includes core fundamental business courses with the focus on strategic overview of business concepts, two international modules and concludes with the Integration Module, which includes a two-day integrative simulation. Among MBA and EMBA students about 50% are entrepreneurs. The EMBA For Eurasia is a 16-months dual-degree program developed jointly by HKUST Business Schoo Entrepreneurial programmesSKOLKOVO helps SME teams and individual entrepreneurs to develop their management and business competencies as well as launch a real business project in Russia or abroad. The Startup Academy is aimed at entrepreneurs who are just planning to open their own business, for entrepreneurs who want to scale up their business and for investors who want to learn how to invest successfully. During the program students make business model and financial model for their business, learn how to make marketing and sales efficiently, how to make invest pitch. At the end of the program 10 best students present their business at the Investors Day where the jury are investors and managing partners of invest funds. SKOLKOVO Practicum is a short, five-module open course for entrepreneurs and managers/general directors of small- and medium-sized Russian businesses. SKOLKOVO Practicum takes a systematic approach to the development and consolidation of management skills among small- and medium-sized business leaders. The program trains business owners and managers to change their current situation and take their business to the next stage of development. In 2018 SKOLKOVO has launched a new program Practicum Global Shift focusing on SMEs that are targeting expansion into international markets. Executive educationThe corporate programs segment has historically been an important part of School’s overall portfolio. Executive Education programs focuses on companies’ transformation and top-management teams’ education and development. To date, the School has delivered more than 350 programmes for more than 150 corporate clients, including Russia’s largest corporations and industrial “blue-chips”, such as Lukoil, Rosatom, TNK BP, EVRAZ, and Gazprom. PeopleThe Skolkovo Founders are 17 Russian and international individuals and businesses.[8][9] The founding individuals include Alexander Abramov, Roman Abramovich, and Ruben Vardanian in a practical partnership that extends beyond financial contribution to build on the cumulative 200 years of management experience. The businesses include companies like Credit Suisse, GUM Trade Center, Severstal, TNK-BP, and Troika Dialog. Teaching MethodMost programmes are based on “learning by doing” principle and include simulations, practical tasks, project work. SKOLKOVO’s key innovation in learning and program delivery is based on its proprietary SKOLKOVO Project Method (SPM) – an original change management approach that proved effective for the organizations going through the major transformations involving strategic and organizational dimensions. Programs based on SPM effectively serve as a change management and leadership development laboratory for the real project. Business cases based on SPM were recognized by EFMD Excellence in Practice Gold Medal in 2018 (Program for the “Monocities” in a special category “Ecosystem Development”) and EFMD Excellence in Practice Silver Medal in 2016 (Rosatom innovation program). Notable AlumniThe SKOLKOVO alumni community is becoming one of the most dynamic business networks in Russia uniting representatives of more than 1,500 Russian and international companies, medium and small businesses, and public authorities. The SKOLKOVO Alumni Community includes graduates of all degree programs and several major non-degree programs such as Practicum, Startup Academy and others. Membership of the Alumni Community is free and is granted automatically upon graduation.
