Constructed in 1965, the bridge is on U.S. Route 2 at mile marker 70. The bridge is {{convert|1223|ft|m|0|abbr=on}} long and {{convert|464|ft|m|0|abbr=on}} high,[1][2] and is a replacement for an obsolete 1923 bridge built downstream from Moyie Dam.[3] The only higher bridge in Idaho is the {{convert|476|ft|m|sing=on}} high Perrine Bridge which crosses the Snake River near Twin Falls, Idaho.[3] Both bridges are among the highest bridges in the United States.
