HistoryIn 1542 the Crown granted almost all of the land at Murcott to the Dean and Chapter of Westminster Abbey.{{sfn|Lobel|1959|pp=80–92}} They retained it until the end of the 19th century, when it passed to the Ecclesiastical Commissioners.{{sfn|Lobel|1959|pp=80–92}} Murcott Mission Room was built in 1895 to a plain Early English design by local Gothic Revival architect A.
