Some parts of the fungus are bioluminescent. PresenceM. epipterygia is a common species in Western Europe (amongst others Netherlands and Belgium). It grows in diverse habitats: in deciduous and coniferous woods, but it is also found in heather and agrid grasslands. This species grows on the ground. AppearanceMycena epipterygia has a sticky, elastic and deductible surface.[1] Its cap is one to two centimetres wide and its colour varies over yellowish brown to gray-brown. The stipe is yellowish to yellow-green. The gills are white to white-grey, sometimes with brown speckles.
