In 1923, U.S. Soccer established the National Amateur Cup in response to the increasingly large number of teams entering the open National Challenge Cup (now known as the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup). The 1923 competition was played through the semifinals, however the tournament was never completed due to inclement weather. While the USSF originally managed the competition, that responsibility is now held by the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA). Starting with the 2019 U.S. Open Cup, the winner of the previous year's National Amateur Cup qualifies for the U.S. Open Cup tournament proper, bypassing the local qualification process.[1] ChampionsYear | Winner | Runner-up | 1923 Details | Not completed | 1924 Details | Fleisher Yarn | Chicago Swedish-Americans | 1925 Details | Toledo S.C. | Weekawken McLeod Council | 1926 Details | New Bedford Defenders | Pittsburgh Heidelberg SC | 1927 Details | Pittsburgh Heidelberg SC | New Bedford La Flamme Cobblers | 1928 Details | Swedish Americans Fall River Powers Hudson Essex | Tie | 1929 Details | Pittsburgh Heidelberg SC | Newark First German SC | 1930 Details | Fall River Rafferty | Pittsburgh Gallatin SC (forfeit) | 1931 Details | Akron Goodyear | New Bedford Black Cats | 1932 Details | Cleveland Shamrocks | New Bedford Santo Cristo | 1933 Details | Philadelphia German-Americans | Pittsburgh McKnight Beverage | 1934 Details | Philadelphia German-Americans | Pittsburgh Heidelberg SC | 1935 Details | W.
