He was sometimes known as Doug Scot. Graham immigrated to the United States in 1980. He moved to San Francisco at the age of 27, and, with $1000, started a small business making men's novelty ties. The business began producing a line of boxer shorts in a range of unexpected designs, most notably the Imperial Hoser, the infamous red tartan boxer that came with a detachable raccoon tail.[1] A shrewd marketer, Graham designed underwear silk-screened with US$ 100 bills. The United States Secret Service confiscated 1,000 pairs because the imprints were reportedly in violation of anti-forgery laws. Graham's official title was Chief Underpants Officer (CUO). The company grew to a US$100,000,000 business, but by 2001, faced with massive debt, it was sold to Windsong Allegiance, which signed an exclusive deal with Kmart to sell Joe Boxer products ranging from underwear and sheets to shower curtains and watches.[2] Graham purchased the title Lord of Balls in 1998 from the Manorial Society of Great Britain for $4,000.[3] Nick Graham Organization{{infobox brand| name = Nick Graham (brand) | logo = | image = | caption = | type = | currentowner = Nick Graham | origin = | introduced = 2013 | discontinued = | related = | markets = | previousowners = | trademarkregistrations = | ambassadors = | tagline = Because he can. | website = }} Graham is launching a new contemporary men’s collection under his own name on a website.[4][5] Chuck Hellman is the president.[5] {{As of| December 2013}}, the brand will use Robinson Manufacturing Co. in Dayton, Tennessee and Pico Manufacturing Sales Corp. in New York to handle sourcing, manufacturing and distribution.[5] The brand will use the motto, "Because he can."[4]References1. ^Joe Boxer (history) {{Authority control}}{{DEFAULTSORT:Graham, Nicholas}}2. ^Joe Boxer, ibid. 3. ^CNN report on the history of Joe Boxer and its founder 4. ^1 {{cite web | url=http://www.wwd.com/menswear-news/sportswear/nick-graham-back-in-business-with-new-brand-7230122 | title=Nick Graham Back in Business With New Brand | publisher=WWD | date=17 October 2013 | accessdate=19 December 2013 | author=Lipke, David}} 5. ^1 2 {{cite web | url=http://www.wwd.com/fashion-news/fashion-scoops/nick-graham-names-president-7319999?src=nl/mornReport/20131219 | title=Nick Graham Names Chuck Hellman President | publisher=WWD | date=19 December 2013 | accessdate=19 December 2013 | author=Lipke, David}} 7 : 1958 births|Living people|Businesspeople from Calgary|Businesspeople from the San Francisco Bay Area|Businesspeople in fashion|Canadian businesspeople in retailing|Canadian expatriates in the United States |
