ReleaseThe commercial pressing of the album has a printing error on the cover; instead of reading Nights Out, it just says Nights. The promotional version is unaffected. It is unknown whether this will be rectified in the next pressing of the album.{{Citation needed|date=April 2011}} In 2012 it was awarded a double silver certification from the Independent Music Companies Association which indicated sales of at least 40,000 copies throughout Europe.[4] Critical reception{{Album ratings| rev1 = Allmusic | rev1Score = {{rating|4|5}} [5] | rev2 = Artrocker | rev2Score = {{rating|5|5}} [6] | rev3 = ChartAttack | rev3Score = 4/5 [7] | rev4 = Drowned in Sound | rev4Score = 8/10 [8] | rev5 = Gigwise | rev5Score = {{Rating|4.5|5}} [9] | rev6 = The Guardian | rev6Score = {{Rating|3|5}} [10] | rev7 = The Independent | rev7Score = {{Rating|5|5}} [11] | rev8 = NME | rev8Score = 9/10 [12] | rev9 = The Observer | rev9Score = {{Rating|4|5}} [13] | rev10 = Pitchfork | rev10Score = 6.6/10 [14] | rev11 = This Is Fake DIY | rev11Score = 9/10 [15] }} The album was placed at #5 by NME in their best albums of 2008 list.[16] Track listing{{Track listing| total_length = 44:12 | all_writing = Metronomy | title1 = Nights Out | length1 = 2:39 | title2 = The End of You Too | length2 = 3:43 | title3 = Radio Ladio | length3 = 3:33 | title4 = My Heart Rate Rapid | length4 = 4:09 | title5 = Heartbreaker | length5 = 4:13 | title6 = On the Motorway | length6 = 2:35 | title7 = Side 2 | length7 = 3:29 | title8 = Holiday | length8 = 4:15 | title9 = A Thing for Me | length9 = 3:28 | title10 = Back on the Motorway | length10 = 3:54 | title11 = On Dancefloors | length11 = 4:43 | title12 = Nights Outro | length12 = 3:13 }}{{Track listing | headline = Enhanced version | title13 = Radio Ladio (Music Video) | length13 = 3:35 | title14 = Holiday (Music Video) | length14 = 3:29 | title15 = Heartbreaker (Music Video) | length15 = 3:46 }}{{Track listing | headline = US iTunes Release | title13 = Please Me | length13 = | title14 = The Chase | length14 = | title15 = Heartbreaker (Discodeine Remix) | length15 = | title16 = Heartbreaker (Kris Menace Remix) | length16 = }}{{Track listing | headline = UK iTunes Release | title13 = Need Now Future (Bonus Track) | length13 = 4:02 | title14 = Radio Ladio (Music Video) | length14 = 3:35 | title15 = Holiday (Music Video) | length15 = 3:29 | title16 = Heartbreaker (Music Video) | length16 = 3:46 }}[5] Nights In

Radio Ladio, released on 12 November 2007, the accompanying video by Daniel Brereton features Joseph, Oscar and Gabriel with their skin painted blues and greens, playing kiddie-like pianos that have incorrect keys while they lust after an unobtainable woman, who at the end is revealed to be a cardboard cut-out. My Heart Rate Rapid, released on 7 April 2008, featured remixes from Primary 1 and Maton while the video directed by Dandi Wind featured zentai-suited women dancing in front of a backdrop of lava flows, eruptions fire, toy trains and psychedelic animations.{{Citation needed|date=August 2011}} Holiday was first released as a single on 7 July 2008, along with a video by Daniel Brereton.[17] It features the band playing in a studio with weird objects such as a warped mirror, a colored lilo and many men walking through, holding such objects entering and leaving the shot. Most notably the band all wear sunglasses with the word Holiday written on the lens. Holiday was jointly released in France with Heartbreaker on 1 August 2008 with remixes by other artists.{{Citation needed|date=August 2011}} Heartbreaker is the fourth song, released on 1 September 2008 and features the Heartbreaker - EP and Heartbreaker (Dark Disco Remixes) - EP. The video was released on an enhanced version of Nights Out and shows Oscar Cash (apparently having been dumped by a girl) with his friends in their car going to an arcade, a fair and the beach, among others.{{Citation needed|date=August 2011}} A Thing For Me is the fifth single and the first released subsequent to the release of Nights Out. The video features the band and several girls and karaoke words on them with the rolling ball hitting them on the head as it is sung along. It also features cutaways to a projector slideshow with speech bubbles featuring the lyrics (even though some are just words that sound alike). The song was recently remixed by French artist Breakbot (on Ed Banger Records).[18] References1. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.metro.co.uk/metrolife/article.html?in_article_id=197446&in_page_id=261 |title=Metronomy light up the electro stage |publisher=Metro.co.uk |date=2008-06-30 |accessdate=2011-08-30}} 2. ^{{cite news|url=https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/music-magazine/music-magazine-news/ones-to-watch-807375.html|title=Ones to watch: Five of the best new acts|last=O'Dair|first=Marcus|date=11 April 2008|publisher=The Independent|accessdate=2008-04-19|location=London}} 3. ^{{cite web|author= Hot right now: |url=http://www.gigwise.com/article.php?id=41863&page_no=2 |title=Not Your Average Night Out - Metronomy |publisher=Gigwise |date=2008-03-28 |accessdate=2011-08-30}} 4. ^http://www.vut.de/index.php?id=42&tx_vutnews_pi1%5Barticle%5D=210&cHash=b7db7c5c120f55ac6c06cd370dbeec86 5. ^1 2 {{Allmusic|class=album|id=r1431866|first=Jon|last=O'Brien}} 6. ^{{cite web|url=http://artrocker.com/node/1964 |title=Nights Out |publisher=Artrocker |date= |accessdate=2011-08-30}} 7. ^{{cite web|last=Villeneuve |first=Phil |url=http://www.chartattack.com/reviews/60225/metronomy |title=Metronomy — Nights Out |publisher=CHARTattack |date=2008-09-12 |accessdate=2011-08-30}} 8. ^{{cite web|last=Skinner |first=James |url=http://drownedinsound.com/releases/13662/reviews/4018215- |title=Metronomy - Nights Out / Releases / Releases // Drowned In Sound |publisher=Drownedinsound.com |date=2008-09-14 |accessdate=2011-08-30}} 9. ^{{cite web|author= Hot right now: |url=http://www.gigwise.com/reviews/albums/45926/Metronomy---Nights-Out-Because-Released-080908 |title=Metronomy - 'Nights Out' (Because) Released 08/09/08 |publisher=Gigwise |date=2008-09-09 |accessdate=2011-08-30}} 10. ^{{cite news|author=Alex Macpherson |url=https://www.theguardian.com/music/2008/sep/05/popandrock5 |title=CD: Metronomy, Nights Out | Music |publisher=The Guardian |date= 5 September 2008|accessdate=2011-08-30 |location=London}} 11. ^{{cite news|url=https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/reviews/album-metronomy-nights-out-because-music-919220.html |title=Album: Metronomy, Nights Out (Because Music) - Reviews, Music |publisher=The Independent |date=2008-09-05 |accessdate=2011-08-30 |location=London}} 12. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.nme.com/reviews/metronomy/9886 |title=NME Album Reviews - Metronomy |publisher=Nme.Com |date=2008-09-05 |accessdate=2011-08-30}} 13. ^{{cite news|author=Jaimie Hodgson |url=https://www.theguardian.com/music/2008/aug/10/metronomy.review |title=Electronic review: Metronomy, Nights Out | Music | The Observer |publisher=Guardian |date= 10 August 2008|accessdate=2011-08-30 |location=London}} 14. ^{{cite web|url=https://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/12403-nights-out/ |title=Metronomy: Nights Out |work=Pitchfork |date=2008-11-18 |accessdate=1 November 2018}} 15. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.thisisfakediy.co.uk/articles/albums/metronomy-nights-out |title=Metronomy – ‘Nights Out’ | Album Reviews | DIY |publisher=Thisisfakediy.co.uk |date= |accessdate=2011-08-30}} 16. ^{{Cite news|url=http://www.nme.com/photos/top-50-albums-of-2008-1411175#/photo/4|title=Top 50 Albums Of 2008 - NME|date=2008-12-18|work=NME|access-date=2018-06-15|language=en-US}} 17. ^http://vimeo.com/danielbrereton/videos 18. ^{{cite web|url=http://www.asianmandan.com/blog/2008/08/metronomy-x-breakbot |title=Metronomy x Breakbot |publisher=Asianmandan.com |date=2008-08-14 |accessdate=2011-08-30}} 3 : 2008 albums|Metronomy albums|Because Music albums |
